Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra launches at $1,399 with 14.6-inch OLED and Dimensity 9500

What Samsung is selling

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch display at 2960 x 1848 and a 120Hz refresh rate, according to Samsung's Malaysian product page, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The page lists a 5.1 mm body, 690 g weight, an 11,600 mAh battery with 45W charging, IP68 rating and an S Pen in the box. All configurations use MediaTek's Dimensity 9500.

SamMobile lists the US starting price at $1,399 and says the Ultra and the smaller Tab S12+ ($1,199) reached major markets on October 7. Engadget, which reviewed the 12GB/256GB model, rounds the price to $1,400.

Against the previous generation

Samsung launched the Tab S11 Ultra on September 4, 2025, at $1,199 for 256GB, with a Dimensity 9400+ chip and the same 11,600 mAh battery, SamMobile reported at the time. The S12 Ultra therefore costs $200 more at the entry tier and keeps the 14.6-inch panel size and battery capacity.

Engadget says the stylus looks like the same pen that shipped with the previous model. Engadget also reports a Geekbench 7 multi-core score of 9,403 for the S12 Ultra, against 7,879 for a Dell XPS 13 with an Intel Core 5 320.

Battery, ports and keyboards

Engadget reports 19 hours and 39 minutes in its local video rundown test. That figure is Engadget's, not Samsung's.

The tablet has a single USB-C port, per Engadget. Samsung sells two keyboards separately, the Book Cover Keyboard Slim and the Pro Keyboard, which adds a touchpad and kickstand, according to Engadget and Samsung's product page. Neither source gives keyboard prices.

Where it sits on price

Engadget compares the price with similarly sized laptops, a $1,000 Dell XPS 13 and an $800 MacBook Neo, and says the tablet offers fewer ports and a more limited OS for productivity.

Engadget names the iPad Pro as a rival but gives no price. Apple's iPad Pro page lists the M5 chip and an Ultra Retina XDR display, shows no starting price for either size, and says the Magic Keyboard is sold separately. Because the page carried no starting prices, an iPad Pro price comparison is left out.

Who is affected

Android buyers looking at a 14.6-inch tablet face a $1,399 entry price, with keyboards sold separately. Existing Tab S11 Ultra owners get the same screen size and battery capacity.
